Valley of Flowers – The Legacy
Although the Valley of Flowers was first discovered by the British mountaineer Frank Sydney Smythe in 1931, Hindu mythology offered a different interpretation. The Gods and the Pandavas frequented the Valley—the heroes of the Mahabharata from ancient times.
The Sikhs believed the Valley was where the tenth Guru—Shri Guru Gobind Singh—meditated until he finally unified with God. For this reason, the Gurudwara Shri Hemkund Sahib Ji is the leading holiest Sikh shrine in the world. The best way to discover the beautiful Valley is on foot, which is considered one of the most popular Indian Himalayan treks.
